Amerisure is currently recruiting for an AVP, Construction Defect Claims leader that can do a 3-day hybrid approach onsite in one of our offices. The ideal candidate will also possess the following skill set.

Essential Tasks/Major Duties
- Lead, direct, and develop staff in area of responsibility with an emphasis on talent management and succession planning in accordance with the company’s strategic direction.
- Partner with field marketing underwriting and risk management leaders to realize strategic and operational objectives.
- Collaborate with claims management to develop and implement service strategies that meet or exceed the service levels committed to agents and policyholders.
- Continuously guide, coach, and develop direct reports to:
- build and maintain strong relationships with agents and policyholders by being inclusive, communicative, and accessible;
- conduct relevant, creative, and comprehensive investigation and evaluation on coverage, liability, and damages throughout the life of the claim by analyzing material facts, circumstances, and developments and applying applicable law and legal principles;
- positively influence claims outcomes through developing, continuously adjusting, and executing on action plans designed to achieve desired resolutions;
- identify and pursue early resolution when appropriate; and
- proactively establish and adjust loss reserves throughout the life of the claim based on newly identified and material information and developments in order to reflect probable ultimate exposure.
- Analyze and interpret key performance indicators and other key metrics to identify claim trends and opportunities for improvement to meet department objectives.
- Identify and implement loss cost and alae management programs designed to deliver quality claims outcomes.
- Monitor and ensure that claims are adjudicated in accordance with Amerisure claims and litigation management guidelines and quality standards through claims quality assurance programs, including tracking compliance with internal control assessment requirements.
- Ensure financial internal controls are adequately designed and monitored to minimize the risk of fraud and material misstatement in the financial statements.
- Juris Doctorate required.
- 10 years of commercial claims experience including 7 years handling complex, high exposure construction defect files, and 3 years handling litigated files and directing outside coverage and defense counsel.
- 5 years of leadership experience.
- Extensive knowledge of current tort, contract, and coverage laws in multiple jurisdictions, including experience in TX, FL, SC, and AZ.
- Extensive insurance coverage experience involving complex construction defect claims triggering multiple policy years.
- Demonstrates superior knowledge of claims situations and all aspects of coverage analysis and litigation management process.
- Ability to think strategically with supporting analytical and critical thinking skills, including the ability to deal with ambiguity.
- Demonstrated successful ability to build positive partnerships and work collaboratively with cross-functional business teams.
- Strong leadership capability with experience in building and leading highly successful teams.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to interact with all levels of the organization.
- Proficient computer skills required including Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to travel overnight and locally up to 20%.
