The Development Director will direct all aspects of the AMIB’s fundraising initiatives and serves as a member of the Executive Director’s leadership team which is responsible for setting and implementing overall policies, procedures and strategies. The position is directly responsible for the management of annual appeals, capital campaigns, special events, foundation proposals, and planned gifts. Responsible for the creation and implementation of an annual fundraising and public relations plan detailing how the organization can obtain financial support, strategies to successfully build a large donor base and ensure effective fundraising and exposure of AMIB to a larger audience. Oversees a small functional development team. A minimum six (6) years of development/fundraising activities, with a focus on soliciting major gifts, the annual campaign, capital and endowment programs and special events. Development Director shal possess Bachelor Degree in Business, Communications, or related field; Master’s degree or CFRE preferred.

Development Director Essential Duties
- Establish detailed annual fundraising plan and development calendar.
- Creates and executes strategic individual and corporate engagement strategies to raise funds for agency initiatives.
- Serves as a liaison within the community. Serve as lead relationships manager to create a portfolio of individuals and corporate prospects.
- Assist in the solicitation and securing of Board Members for AMIB and Endowment Fund non-profit organizations.
- Creates comprehensive donor stewardship program, including donor recognition, impact reporting, and communication tracking to increase donor retention and comply with IRS requirements.
- Optimize fundraising support system (Raiser’s Edge) utilization.
- Oversee the performance of Development Team staff (Associate and Social Media/WebDesign consults).
- Leads the planning and execution of events, news publications and social media exposure.
- Create and implement grants management program (from identification, draft proposal date, deadline for complete proposal, submission, results and follow up reporting).
- Develops relationships with members of the business community to build awareness and positive brand identity for AMIB. Attend community events, meetings and conferences, serving as spokesperson promoting AMIB’s goals.
Development Director Skills:
- Computer skills including Microsoft Office with emphasis on Word documents, Excel spreadsheets calculations/formulas.
- Technical ability to utilize and run reports on fundraising support software (Raiser's Edge preferred)
- Ability to read, write and speak English
- Excellent verbal, written, presentation, and project management skills
- Demonstrated ability in fundraising strategies and techniques
- Experience in event planning and execution
