AMPI owns seven Midwest-based manufacturing plants where 10 percent of the nation’s American-type cheese, processed cheese and butter is produced. The cooperative’s award-winning cheese, butter and powdered dairy products are marketed to foodservice, retail and food ingredient customers. In 2019, the co-op launched its Dinner Bell Creamery brand and accompanying Co-op Crafted promise, highlighting more than 50 years of dairy farm families partnering with skilled buttermakers and cheesemakers.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

This list of duties and responsibilities is not all inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties and responsibilities as management may deem necessary from time to time:

  1. All AMPI employees have an obligation to report employee safety, food safety and food quality issues to personnel of authority.
  2. This position has a heightened food safety and food quality responsibilities.
  3. Sampling and receiving of bulk milk. Must be licensed by SDDA to sample milk
  4. Must be able to obtain and maintain CIS certification.
  5. Confirm quality tests on raw milk in accordance with company and regulatory guidelines.
  6. Ensure all policies and procedures for the PMO (Pasteurized Milk Ordinance) are followed.
  7. CIP tankers, receiving lines, and storage silos.
  8. Ensure all recording charts are properly documented according to company and regulatory regulations.
  9. Ability to drive trucks in and out of receiving bay as needed.
  10. Performing preventative maintenance and master sanitation tasks.
  11. Keep floors, drain troughs, and drain pits properly cleaned.
  12. Constantly look for continuous improvement and process improvement and communicate.
  13. Maintain good housekeeping and cleanup of equipment and supplies in your work areas.
  14. Maintain proper documentation in all formats of recordkeeping
  15. Adhere to all aspects of company and customer safety, sanitation and site policies.
  16. Assists with training new employees;
  17. Provides assistance to the maintenance personnel, when needed, for machine repairs or troubleshooting;
  18. Responsible for meeting department goals and objectives including scheduling, managing the working hours including OT, appraisals and disciplinary concerns.
  19. Other duties as assigned

EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE

  • High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) required.
  • 2 years relevant work experience preferred/required.
  • 1 year of supervisory experience preferred.
  • Must be able to maintain a valid forklift operator license
