Job Summary: As a General Superintendent at Amstar, Inc., you will play a critical leadership role in overseeing the field operations for multiple projects. This position ensures that all projects are executed efficiently, safely, and in compliance with company standards, project specifications, and client expectations. The ideal candidate is an experienced construction professional with a strong ability to lead teams, manage schedules, and uphold the company’s commitment to quality and safety.
Key Responsibilities:
- Project Oversight
- Oversee daily field operations for multiple projects.
- Ensure project schedules are met, and resources are allocated efficiently.
- Conduct regular site visits to monitor progress, quality, and compliance.
- Utilize project management software(s) such as Miter, Procore, and other tools to track progress, update schedules, and communicate.
- Team Leadership
- Provide leadership, mentorship, and guidance to Project Superintendents and other field staff as needed.
- Foster a culture of collaboration, safety, and accountability among teams.
- Participate in hiring, training, and performance evaluations for field personnel.
- Safety and Compliance
- Ensure adherence to all safety policies and OSHA regulations.
- Conduct regular safety meetings and audits.
- Implement corrective actions for any identified safety or compliance issues.
- Execute safety inspections utilizing various technologies such as Procore.
- Collaboration and Communication
- Coordinate with Project Managers, engineers, and subcontractors to resolve issues and maintain project momentum.
- Communicate project progress, risks, and solutions to Project Executive, Project Managers, and Quality Control Manager.
- Participate in pre-construction and planning meetings to provide insights on project execution strategies.
- Quality Control
- Enforce Amstar specific quality standards and ensure work meets specifications and contract requirements.
- Conduct inspections and approve work at critical milestones.
- Address deficiencies promptly to maintain project integrity.
- Execute project observations and punch list items utilizing various technologies such as Procore.
- Budget and Resource Management
- Monitor labor, material, and equipment usage to stay within budget constraints.
- Identify and implement cost-saving measures without compromising quality.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in construction management, civil engineering, industrial engineering and/or related field (a plus) or equivalent work experience.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in commercial construction, including 5 years in a leadership role as a Superintendent or General Superintendent.
- Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Extensive knowledge of construction methods, materials, techniques, and safety regulations.
- Proficiency in project management software and scheduling tools (e.g., Procore, Microsoft Project, Miter, etc.).
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
- Job Order Contracting experience (a plus).
- OSHA 30-hour certification (preferred).
- Additional certifications in construction management or safety are a plus.
