What are the responsibilities and job description for the Lab Shift Technician-(Rotating 12 hour shift) position at AmSty?
Overview: The Lab Shift Technician performs various routine test procedures, test methods, and activities that support daily process units and product movement operations.
Primary Responsibilities
- Analyze routine process samples, finished products, and raw materials
- Perform a variety of physical and wet chemical analyses, as well as analytical testing as per test procedures
- Perform daily checks of process sample results in SAP using WC97
- Prepare GC sample vials for the next shift
- Prepare GC Control samples for the next shift
- Perform basic routine maintenance on assigned instruments per the Quarterly Instrument Schedule
- Dispose of retains according to the Retain Disposal Schedule
- Collect environmental compliance samples on nights and weekends as necessary
- Restock sample bottles as needed
- Run daily control samples and plot on SQC Charts
- Perform area housekeeping duties as assigned per quarter
- Monitor, operate, repair, and troubleshoot lab test equipment and instruments. Notify the Lab Specialist or Lab Supervisor of any test method or test instrument problems.
- Participate in the recommendation and selection of new lab equipment purchases
- Report lab data into the lab information and management system (SAP) correctly and accurately
- Participate in lab safety and QA/QC improvement efforts
- Communicate and interact with plant personnel, other Lab Technicians, Lab Specialist, and Lab Supervisor, informing them of any equipment or instrument problems
- Interface and communicate with all levels of operations, technical, and marketing personnel to provide lab services and solutions to customers as they occur
- Process paperwork associated with sample analysis, C of As, and other miscellaneous reports.
- Perform other duties as needed
- Must be available to work overtime as needed
Job Requirements
- Minimum of B.S. in Chemistry or science-related field. BS in Chemistry preferred.
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- Initiative and ability to work with limited supervision
