Job Description
Job Title: Surgical Technologist
Job Summary:
The Surgical Technologist is responsible for assisting surgeons and other medical professionals during surgical procedures. They are responsible for ensuring that the operating room is set up correctly, sterilizing instruments, and assisting with patient preparation and positioning.
Responsibilities and Duties:
1. Set up and prepare operating rooms for surgery
2. Sterilize surgical instruments and equipment
3. Assist surgeons during procedures by passing instruments and supplies
4. Maintain a sterile field throughout the surgical procedure
5. Assist with patient preparation and positioning
6. Anticipate the needs of the surgical team during procedures
7. Monitor and assess patient vital signs during surgery
8. Assist with wound closure and dressing application
9. Help transport patients to and from the operating room
10. Maintain accurate records of surgical procedures
Qualifications and Skills:
1. High school diploma or equivalent
2. Completion of a surgical technologist program
3. Certification as a surgical technologist (CST)
4. Strong attention to detail
5. Ability to work well under pressure
6. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
7. Ability to work effectively as part of a team
8. Physical stamina and strength to stand for long periods and lift heavy objects
9. Knowledge of surgical procedures and instruments
10. Proficiency in sterile techniques
