Lab Assistant - Phlebotomy - FT Days (52898)

Job Summary: Collects venous and capillary blood from inpatients and outpatients on site and off site. Processes specimens to be sent to reference labs. Cleans and stocks pick-up carts and trays. Orders lab tests in the computer. Receives laboratory specimens.

Job Responsibilities

• Demonstrates specific specimen processing skills as listed and in accordance with the laboratory assistant manual.
• Demonstrates specific laboratory outpatient skills as listed and in accordance with the laboratory assistant manual.

Education Requirements And Other Requirements

Education Level

High School diploma or equivalent.

Certification/Licensure: BLS

Experience Requirements

Paramedical training preferred.

Working Conditions: Exposure Category I: Tasks that involve exposure to blood , body fluids, or tissues. All procedures or other job-related tasks that involve an inherent potential for mucous membrane or skin contact with blood, body fluids, or tissues, or a potential for spills or splashes of them, are Category I tasks.
