Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Veterinary Assistant to join our team. In this role, you will provide essential support to veterinarians in delivering high-quality care to animals. Your responsibilities will include assisting with examinations, treatments, and surgeries while ensuring a safe and clean environment for both patients and staff. The ideal candidate will have a strong passion for animal care and possess relevant skills in veterinary practices.
Responsibilities
- Assist veterinarians during examinations and procedures, ensuring the comfort of the animals.
- Perform routine tasks such as taking vital signs, administering medications, and preparing animals for surgery.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the clinic, including examination rooms and surgical areas.
- Handle and restrain animals safely during procedures and examinations.
- Prepare equipment for surgeries, including sterilization and aseptic technique.
- Maintain accurate medical records and assist with client communication regarding pet care.
- Support kennel operations by caring for animals, including feeding, walking, and cleaning their living spaces.
Skills
- Proficiency in animal handling techniques to ensure safety for both pets and staff.
- Familiarity with veterinary terminology to communicate effectively within the team.
- Experience in dog handling to manage various breeds safely.
- Knowledge of animal anatomy to assist in examinations and treatments.
- Ability to perform aseptic techniques during surgical procedures.
- Understanding of animal catheterization processes to support medical interventions.
- Experience with X-Ray procedures is a plus but not mandatory.
- Previous experience in a kennel environment or pet grooming is beneficial.
