We are seeking a Systems Engineering Intern in Ann Arbor, Michigan that will assist with evaluating user requirements to create product specifications and validation goals for complex projects. The intern will be assigned a project and mentored by a senior staff member this summer from approximately May to August.
Responsibilities
- Apply Systems Engineering principles to develop the process for collecting customer requirements and cascading technical system specifications (SE Iight) and design parameters
- Apply systems engineering methodologies to design and develop cascading requirement scenarios
- Help to articulate the process for including safety analyses (HARA, FTA, PFMEA, DFMEA) into the project
- Drive the formulation of a plan that ensures verification and validation to support systems engineering goals
- Ability to handle tasks with significant complexity under minimal supervision requiring a high degree of technical competence, precision, and attention to detail
- Follow and improve our processes, to ensure tight cross-functional coordination and quality work products are delivered
- Report on your project progress, anticipate and alert on risks, propose mitigations
- Follow all company policies regarding safety, quality, and conduct
- Physical presence on the job is essential and necessary
- Other duties as assigned by management
Education and Experience
- Interns are generally college students pursuing STEM degree programs. There are no specific restrictions on major, graduation year or progress.
- Previous systems engineering experience in the electronics, battery or mobility industries preferred
- Must be comfortable supporting US military-funded work and building products for US military testing and use.
- Working knowledge of electrical hardware (including wire harness), software and electrical circuit theory applicable to the mobility industry
- Requirements writing proficiency preferred
- Awareness of systems engineering and associated standards: i.e. INCOSE Certification, ISO 26262, ISO 15288.
