Job Description

Essential Job Functions:

  • Act as the primary liaison between Patient Financial Services (PFS) and payer organizations, representing Lurie Children’s in business-to-business interactions.
  • Serve as the main contact point for provider representatives from each payer, ensuring seamless internal communication.
  • Organize and facilitate regular payer meetings, managing agendas, tracking action items, and ensuring timely follow-ups.
  • Conduct the root cause analysis on underpayments, overpayments, denials, and workflow deficiencies impacting reimbursement.
  • Analyze hospital accounts receivable data to identify trends and make actionable recommendations for improving claim outcomes and reducing denials.
  • Track and manage claim disputes by submitting and organizing spreadsheets and maintaining an organized system for dispute submissions.
  • Collaborate with the PFS team to compile, update, and share discussion lists, project statuses, and open accounts receivable (AR) information with provider representatives before meetings.
  • Support the Denials Task Force by providing data, tracking payer efforts, and assisting the Denials Manager in identifying high-priority claims for follow-up.
  • Utilize tools like OneNote and tracking spreadsheets to monitor progress on claims disputes and payer system issues.
  • Develop and present payer trend reports for both internal and external stakeholders, providing insights into common issues and progress updates.
  • Create and update month-end and annual reports, ensuring compliance and tracking of reimbursement changes.
  • Monitor and communicate updates on payer notices, changes, and reimbursement adjustments to relevant teams.
  • Coordinate and deliver payer-related training sessions information and resources for the revenue cycle to improve knowledge and efficiency.
  • Uphold the organization’s commitment to service excellence by adhering to service principles, fostering innovation, teamwork, and delivering high-quality care and support to patients, families, and colleagues.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Years of Relevant Experience: Minimum of five years in healthcare administration, including at least three years in revenue cycle required.
  • Computer Skills: Epic, Project management preferred, Microsoft Office and Excel-intermediate level or above, required.
  • Other Skills: Excellent organizational, planning, and project management skills with a strong attention to detail preferred.

$54,600.00-$89,273.60 Salary

The pay range for this job indicates minimum and maximum targets for the position . Ranges are regularly reviewed to stay aligned with market conditions.
