Description

Apostolic Christian Highland Oaks is a small non-profit nursing facility in Elgin. We are looking for a weekend Laundry Assistant to work every Saturday and Sunday.

• Collect and transport all soiled linen to the laundry room.
• Sort soiled linen.
• Determine and monitor washing formulas to achieve maximum efficiency.
• Load and wash soiled linens.
• Operate dryer to dry linens.
• Complete linen processing by shaking out, pressing, folding, ironing, rewashing and sewing linens as needed, both the residents’ and the facility’s.
• Inspect washed linen to assure appropriate physical condition (free of stains, tears, etc.) along with assuring quality of linen production.
• Perform duties in compliance with infection control standards.
• Operate all equipment in a safe manner and as required by manufacturer.
• Perform basic preventative maintenance operations.
• Inventory all linens and carts and place in appropriate location.
• Maintain laundry room in sanitary and orderly condition.

Requirements

• Must be able to understand and follow directions, both written and oral.
• Must possess physical stamina for frequents stooping, stretching, lifting at least 25 lbs. minimum, walking, standing for two-hour minimum at once time, climbing; must be able to be on feet 100% of working time.
• Must possess initiative, good judgement and be able to organize work load.
• Must be able to classify linen and understand appropriate processing techniques.
• Must be able to communicate with residents, visitors and employees.
