What are the responsibilities and job description for the Medicaid Assistant position at Area Agency on Aging District 7, Inc.?
SUMMARY: Provide dependable and reliable support and assistance to clinical staff serving individuals enrolled in Medicaid waiver programs with primary duties to include clerical activities, support of Medicaid eligibility procedures, and data entry in ODJFS electronic systems (Ohio Benefits and/or MITS).
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Work to ensure Medicaid eligibility is attained in a timely manner by assisting consumers with the Medicaid application process. This will sometimes involve visiting consumers’ homes to gather required documentation and representing the consumer at the Department of Job & Family Services (JFS) if needed.
- Assist clinical staff with verifying ongoing Medicaid eligibility. This will involve communicating with consumers, JFS staff, and accessing the JFS Ohio Benefits system.
- Complete accurate data entry into the Ohio Benefits system. Notify clinicians of issues that impact consumers’ Medicaid eligibility.
- Complete annual and as needed reviews of Medicaid eligibility and patient liability (share of cost) amounts for enrolled individuals and notify case managers and appropriate Fiscal staff of patient liabilities.
- Office clerical duties include, but are not limited to: answering telephones, routing calls to appropriate staff or taking brief messages, greeting visitors, typing form letters, copying, faxing, handling internal and external mail, operating shredder, turning off equipment and securing records at the end of the day.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school diploma or equivalent and five (5) years experience required; or Associates Degree and two (2) years experience; or Bachelors Degree and one (1) year experience;
- Ability to operate a computer to perform essential job functions including: proficient typing skills and knowledge of Microsoft Windows, Word, Excel, Access, Outlook;
- Successfully complete training for the Ohio Benefits system (or other ODJFS electronic system in use) and maintain proficiency;
- Ability to work independently;
- Ability to effectively communicate in person and over the phone with the aged and disabled population;
- Ability to multi-task: efficiency and organization skills a must;
