Job Posting Title Database Engineer I Pay Range $70,701-$131,302 Summary The Database Engineer I will develop and maintain databases by analyzing, configuring, testing, deploying, and reporting on database infrastructure. Also responsible for the deployment, upgrade, and support of proprietary software; non-standard hours as well as “on call” support should be expected. What You'll Do Develops new databases and updates existing databases through creation of SQL queries, stored procedures, functions, etc. Designs, develops, and implements reports based on large or small data sets to meet customer or department needs. Identifies, designs and implements internal process improvements including re-designing infrastructure for greater scalability, optimizing data delivery, and automating manual processes. Internal and external technical escalation for system and database issues and questions; resolves database performance issues, database capacity issues, replication, and other distributed data issues. Installs and maintains new versions of database software, application software, and other proprietary applications. Owns administration of database security; involves adding and removing users, administering quotas, auditing, and checking for security issues. Proactively monitors systems for optimum performance and capacity constraints Follows established procedures and exercises independent judgement within defined procedures and practices to determine appropriate action Adheres to compliance standards as well as best practices in securely storing, backing up, and archiving data. What We're Looking For Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, or related field, or demonstrated equivalent experience. 5 years of work experience in database technologies and architecture Knowledge of Windows HyperV highly desirable but not required (Replication, VM Deployment) Proficient in Microsoft Office. Proficient in Microsoft SQL Server 2008 Knowledge of Windows Server Microsoft Certifications highly desirable. PostgreSQL experience highly desirable. Must be able to obtain gaming licenses (similar requirements to a security clearance) Sound knowledge of best practices in database engineering and data security.
