Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Laboratory Operations Manager to oversee daily operations in our high-complexity, COLA-accredited laboratory. This role ensures regulatory compliance, quality assurance, and efficient workflow management, while leading a team of laboratory professionals. The ideal candidate has a strong background in high-complexity testing, LC / MS / MS methodology, and laboratory operations, along with proven leadership and problem-solving skills.
Key Responsibilities
Regulatory & Compliance
- Maintain COLA accreditation by overseeing inspections, proficiency testing, and internal audits.
- Ensure compliance with quality control standards, including SOP updates and personnel training.
- Manage documentation for regulatory submissions, licensing, and compliance audits.
Laboratory Operations & Personnel Management
Supervise lab personnel, ensuring adherence to protocols and testing accuracy.Oversee high-complexity testing workflows, including LC / MS / MS methodology and immunoassay screening.Provide technical support for providers / clients and address inquiries related to laboratory results.Coordinate sample workflow from accessioning to result reporting.Manage budget, approve invoices, and oversee supply inventory.Coordinate distribution of UDT collection supplies to clinics.Quality Assurance & Equipment Maintenance
Monitor instrument calibration schedules, reagent COAs / SDS, and QC reports.Oversee lot validation, proficiency testing, and biannual SOP reviews with the Lab Director.Manage maintenance of LCMS and immunoassay instruments, ensuring compliance.Technical Support & Bench Work (as needed)
Perform bench work as needed, including sample accessioning, validity screening, sample extraction for confirmation testing, data analysis, reporting, and instrument maintenance.Other Duties as Assigned

Qualifications & Requirements
Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Medical Technology, Chemistry, Biology, or a related field4-5 years of experience in a high-complexity clinical laboratory2-3 years of management experience with strong leadership and communication skillsExperience with LC / MS / MS methodology, pain management testing, and solid-phase extractionFamiliarity with immunoassay screening, COLA compliance, and laboratory QA standardsFamiliarity with writing and reviewing Standard Operating Procedures.Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
Knowledge of COLA accreditation standards, laboratory quality assurance, and regulatory compliance.Expertise in high-complexity testing, including LC / MS / MS methodology, immunoassay screening, and pain management testing.Proficiency in LIS / EMR systems, lab instrumentation, and troubleshooting.Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.Ability to train and develop lab staff while ensuring compliance.Effective multitasking and prioritization in a high-volume environment.Technical Skills & Requirements
Strong knowledge of lab methodologies, LIS / EMR systems, and SOP documentation.Ability to multi-task and prioritize in a high-volume environment.Physical & Work Environment Requirements
Ability to lift up to 25 lbs and stand for extended periods.Exposure to biohazardous materials with strict adherence to safety protocols.Flexibility for occasional extended hours or on-call duties.Work is performed in a laboratory setting with exposure to hazardous materials, specimens, and chemical hazards.Requires repetitive motion and sustained exertion (e.g., pipetting) in a production testing environment.Routine exposure to body fluids and potentially infectious materials.What To Do Next?
