What are the responsibilities and job description for the 2024-25 Bus Attendant position at Arlington Independent School District?
PRIMARY PURPOSE:
- You are responsible for the student's well-being, safety, discipline, personal items and pick-up at assigned school and assigned drop-off in the afternoon.
QUALIFICATIONS:
MINIMUM EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION/ABILITIES:
- Pass annual physical examination
- District instructed safety and operational procedure training
- Ability to speak and understand English
- Ability to read, write and comprehend instructions
SPECIAL KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:
- Knowledge relating to operation of special equipment for handicapped students.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
- Attendants are to see that each student gets off the bus at his/her assigned school.
- Assist student in getting personal items from home to the school's campus and return on the P.M. run.
- Keep all students seated (assigned seats are recommended).
- Keep the inside of the bus swept and clean. The bus will be left clean after each run, regardless of which bus is used. Substitute buses will be treated as a regularly assigned bus.
- The attendant will assist day care students to the front door when dropping off and assist them from the front door to the bus when picking up in the morning. Students will not be let off the bus by themselves to go into centers.
- Seat belts or harnesses will be used on all students who are unable to sit in the seat safely by themselves
- Attendants are responsible for proper emergency procedures when dealing directly with the safety and care of passengers.
- Attendants are to use proper forms for student behavior problems.
- Attendants placed on a regular education bus will be responsible for student discipline and control.
- Be able to communicate in English on the radio and in person.
- All other duties as assigned by the director or designee.
