Arnall Golden Gregory LLP ("AGG"), an Atlanta-based law firm with approximately 200 attorneys, is seeking an organized, critical-thinking person with strong attention to detail. This position supports the Atlanta Office through the performance of paralegal duties. Responsible for assisting and supporting attorneys for the Healthcare/Life Sciences practice group, specifically the Regulatory and Change of Ownership (CHOW) teams.
This position requires a minimum of two (2) years’ experience in a legal support capacity (i.e., legal assistant, case assistant, paralegal) with heavy emphasis on project management. It is the employer’s discretion to add to or change the duties or requirements of this position at any time. The requirements for this position include, but are not limited to, those outlined below.
Position Reports to: Healthcare/Life Science Practice Co-Chairs and Legal Support Manager
Overall Responsibilities:
Primary duties will include, but are not limited, to the following:
- Assist attorneys with regulatory applications and submissions
- Maintain and update database of regulatory research
- Collect, analyze, organize and maintain information and documents in accordance with correct legal practice and procedure
- Compile information concerning pertinent issues and prepare written summaries, statistics, charts, and/or graphs that clearly detail the findings
- Interact with internal and external entities, including government agencies, consultants, and law firms to gather information or data
- Perform legal, factual and legislative research to identify issues
- Organize, develop, and maintain departmental informational databases and record management systems in complex matters
- Perform docketing and data maintenance for healthcare related filing deadlines
- Organize and maintain case files, regulatory applications and submissions, attorney notebooks and other materials
- Prepare and review forms and applications in accordance with federal and state regulations and requirements under the supervision of the assigned attorney
- Develop and maintain a working relationship with clients in order to ensure the expeditious gathering of facts and information necessary to support regulatory activities
- Attend weekly meetings
- Overtime may be required on occasion
- Other duties/tasks as assigned
Required skills:
- A minimum of two (2) years’ experience working in a legal support capacity within a law firm
- Ability to work independently, be a self-starter and communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing
- Work requires continual attention to detail in composing, typing and proofing materials, establishing and managing priorities and meeting deadlines
- Must possess excellent organizational skills and self-initiation
- Demonstrated proficiency in MS Office Suite and Adobe software programs
- Must have working knowledge of office/administrative procedures and an excellent command of the English language, both written and oral
- Must have excellent interpersonal and problem-solving skills
- Strong writing and organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and complete tasks under strict time constraints
- Experience in the healthcare industry and knowledge of regulatory requirements is preferred
Education and Experience Requirements:
- High School diploma (or equivalent); Bachelor’s Degree considered a plus
Mental/Physical/Environmental Requirements
- Indoor offices with controlled temperatures with limited exposure to noise, dust, chemicals
- Mobility within the office including movement from floor to floor
- May sit for long periods of time
- Crouching, kneeling standing, walking, pushing pulling and lifting occasionally
- Operating a personal computer, telephone, voicemail and other office equipment on a regular basis
