One worker is being sought for the position of Supply Chain Strategy Leader to perform the following duties:
Lead several key Supply Chain (logistics, purchasing, warehousing, supply chain projects, etc.) initiatives and activities including developing and driving strategies to ensure the best total cost model for APNA Supply Chain. Will lead and execute strategies for logistics and material flow and will also lead operational supply chain activities such as negotiating freight rates, inventory support, identifying new warehouses/transloading locations, etc. to support production sites, shipping locations and customers. Lead supply chain efficiency and supply chain synergy projects.
1. Supply Chain Projects
• Develop projects related to improving the supply chain functions (logistics, warehousing, planning, etc.) and operations for centralizing freight across multiple AK divisions (15%)
• Lead supply chain efficiency gain projects (software solutions for truckload bid, etc.) (10%)
• Regularly evaluate Supply Chain Systems to ensure maximum operational efficiencies and recommending changes as needed (TMS, transportation tracking, etc.) (20%)
• Lead cross functional projects to improve customer service quality (EDI implementation, etc.). (5%)
2. Logistics, Warehousing, and Inventory
• Manage overall strategy for the annual transportation RFP events for Truckload, LTL, Dry Bulk, and rail modes to drive best cost solutions considering all KPI’s (cost, delivery, lead-time, customer service, etc.) (5%)
• Lead logistics service provider network optimization, performance management such as invoicing accuracy, on-time delivery, and other service level agreements (10%)
• Work with Logistics Manager to develop and implement APNA’s yearly logistics budget to ensure the best strategy and cost effectiveness. (5%)
• Warehouse & transloading footprint optimization – Identify and onboard new warehouse & dry bulk transloading locations to support sales & customer requirements and manage existing warehouses network operational performance. (10%)
• Regular back-up for logistics operational functions such as daily shipment tendering, tracking, freight quote requests for sales as well as inventory operational functions. (5%)
3. Supply Chain Software Systems
• Subject Matter Expert (SME) for various logistics software systems such as Transportation Management System, market analytics software and freight expedite software (7%)
• SME for various supply chain software integrations and data visualization systems such as Power BI (3%)
• Working knowledge of SAP ECC transactions regarding logistics, planning, inventory, purchasing, and shipping & receiving (SAP ERP) (5%)
This worker will not directly supervise other workers.
Position requires Master's degree in Supply Chain or Engineering, four (4) years’ experience with Supply Chain Management, Lean Six Sigma Green Belt certification and the following skills / tools:
• Truckload and LTL freight movement across North America
• Understanding of Class 1 Rail Carriers and Dry Bulk Carriers
• Inventory optimization and warehousing experience
• Negotiation experience and understanding of PO process in SAP
• Continuous improvement strategies like Kaizen, Six Sigma, etc.
• Microsoft Office (Teams, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Word, etc.)
• Supply chain engineering operations and project management
Travel to customer locations in the United States 15% of time required.
