Key Responsibilities
- Client Representation:
- Represent clients before the IRS and other tax authorities to negotiate payment plans, Offer in Compromise (OIC), and resolve compliance issues.
- Advocate for clients during federal and state tax audits, including income, sales tax, and other types of audits.
- Research & Analysis:
- Conduct thorough research and provide guidance on IRS practice and procedural issues, including tax assessments, penalties, interest, and statutes of limitation.
- Address client questions and concerns related to tax assessments, collections, and compliance.
- Drafting & Communication:
- Draft written communications to tax authorities on behalf of clients.
- Provide clear explanations of complex tax issues to clients, including non-tax professionals.
- Collaboration & Teamwork:
- Work with other practice groups within the firm on cross-disciplinary matters, including corporate taxation and cryptocurrency tax issues.
- Participate in firm training and professional development initiatives.
- Advisory & Counsel:
- Advise individual and corporate clients on a broad range of tax issues, including tax planning and dispute resolution.
- Counsel clients on compliance and IRS procedures, with a particular focus on crypto tax issues.
- J.D. (Juris Doctorate), licensed to practice law in Illinois.
- At least 3 years of experience handling federal and state tax issues for individuals and business entities.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent research, writing, and analytical abilities.
- Ability to explain complex tax issues in an understandable manner for clients.
- Strong time management skills with the ability to handle multiple projects and meet deadlines.
- Demonstrated initiative, sound legal judgment, and problem-solving skills.
- 3 years of experience in tax law is preferred.
- Knowledge of cryptocurrency tax law is a plus.
- Experience with IRS and Illinois tax payment plans, negotiations, audits, and tax disputes.
- Familiarity with Tax Court and District Court proceedings.
- Salary: $100,000 - $120,000, commensurate with experience.

- Immediate Start: We are looking to fill this position as soon as possible.
- Work Schedule: This position requires being in the office at least 3 days a week, with the possibility of working from home for a fourth day if certain metrics are met.
- Team Size: You will join a close-knit team of three, reporting directly to the Department Manager.
