Product Development Engineer III
The Product Development Engineer will work with the global site engineers on assigned projects. They will have a passion and extensive background for the development of innovative medical devices and able to design and engineer medical devices from the initial concept all the way through to production.
What you will be doing:
The Product Development Engineer III will lead and master in injection molded plastic design and analysis, progressive stamping die sheet metal design and analysis, design for manufacturing, ASME Y14.5 and ASME Y14.100 and tolerance analysis. They will conduct stress analysis using classical methods, Castigliano's theorem, and SolidWorks Simulation. They will take the lead on design reviews, phase reviews, PFMEA, DFMEA, and similar reviews and create 3D modeling, CAD design using SolidWorks.
This role will produce and review product documentation including drawings, proposals, and technical reports, each ensuring compliance with ISO 13485. They will perform and oversee testing, data collection, analysis, research, and prototype creation
This role will work with global site engineers on assigned projects, with frequent off-hour communication. This role may require travel both domestically and internationally as assigned
What we expect from you:
Our ideal candidate will have a degree in Mechanical Engineering or similar technical degree and a minimum of 10 years in a design leader role in a R&D or design environment with significant exposure to design of thin-walled plastic injection molded parts, cable design, medical device design, or electrical/electronic connector systems development.
This candidate must have excellent team-leadership experience in product development, manufacturing processes, and development of electrical and mechanical devices; performance of new technology research; creation of product documentation, product testing protocols, and test reporting. They must have an extensive background in design for manufacture, quality processes, and documentation of highly regulated (medical, aerospace, or similar) products and experience transitioning/supporting domestic and off-shore manufacturing. They must also have experience leading teams and conducting/documenting design reviews, troubleshooting, and technical risk analysis activities
