The Tool Room Attendant manages the inventory, issuance, and maintenance of tools, equipment, and supplies used within the machine shop. This role ensures smooth workflow by maintaining tool availability, tracking usage, and adhering to safety and organizational standards. Additionally, the Tool Room Attendant will issue purchase orders to vendors within established parameters and maintain positive relationships with current vendors to ensure timely and cost-effective procurement of tools and materials.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Issue tools, parts, and materials to shop personnel as needed and maintain accurate records.
- Organize and store tools and equipment to prevent damage or loss.
- Perform routine inspections and maintenance of tools to ensure proper functionality.
- Assist with inventory management, including tracking usage and restocking supplies as necessary.
- Collaborate with team members to identify tooling needs for specific projects.
- Issue purchase orders to vendors within established guidelines and parameters.
- Maintain strong relationships with current vendors to ensure reliable sourcing of tools and supplies.
- Address vendor-related issues, including order discrepancies or delays, to minimize disruptions.
- Ensure compliance with safety standards by inspecting tools and equipment regularly.
- Support periodic audits of tool inventory and usage.
- Keep the tool room clean, organized, and secure.
- Assist in the calibration of tools and schedule necessary repairs.
REQUIREMENTS:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Proficient computer skills and familiarity with inventory management systems.
- Basic knowledge of industrial tools and equipment.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Experience with vendor management or purchasing is a plus.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Occasional overtime or weekend work may be required based on production needs.
