Job Purpose: The Life Enrichment Supervisor plans, organizes and implements all community-sponsored activity programs for the residents. Manages the Life Enrichment Coordinators, Assistants and Studio Coordinator. Has a key role teaching and empowering staff and volunteers to help provide resident centered approaches in the most efficient and effective way to meet the needs of the individual residents. Responsible in conjunction with the Vice Presidents of Member Services & Life Engagement and the Community Experience & Member Support Specialist to ensure volunteers are properly oriented, understand facility practices, policies and protocols as they relate to their volunteer commitments.
Essential Job Duties:
20% Planning/Facilitating
- Prepares and distributes monthly activity calendar(s).
- Consults and works with other departments in developing appropriate activities for the various levels of service and needs of individual residents.
- Plans, coordinates and facilitates outings with residents or that residents would enjoy attending. This includes driving the bus.
- Informs residents, staff and volunteers of plans and changes as early as feasible.
- Prepares and updates the Life Enrichment piece of ISP’s and surveys and/or assessments.
- Assists in the review process at least every 12 months (or more frequently as needed).
- Arranges physical set up for activities and is responsible for the condition of the activity area and the care of tools and equipment used.
- Maintains a safety mindset when planning activities for individuals, groups or outings ensuring the well-being of residents is prioritized while balancing resident choice. Reports hazardous conditions to appropriate department supervisor.
- Schedule the community’s musical entertainment, speakers & special events.

15% Angel/Volunteer Support
- Provides supervision related to volunteer planned and facilitated activities at Attic Angel Place. Works directly with the LE volunteers, communicates, and keeps track of ideas and concerns.
- Working knowledge of volunteer assignments.
- Partners with the Community Experience & Member Support Specialist to organize and orient new Angel and non-angel volunteers and shares needs for recruiting volunteers to assist with special events and opportunities within the Attic Angel Community.
- In collaboration with the Community Experience & Member Support Specialist & Vice President of Member Services & Life Engagement provides frequent formal and informal
- Works with the Community Experience & Member Support Specialist to identify opportunities for improvement in the volunteer program at Attic Angel and how is it
- Works closely with the VP of Member Services & Life Engagement to understand regulatory guidelines that govern each level of care being serviced by volunteers and what critical information, in compliance with HIPAA guidelines, should be shared with the volunteers on an ongoing basis related to resident care and condition.
40% Supervisory
- Under the direction of the VP of Members Services & Life Engagement supervises the LE program offerings carried out by the LE staff.
- Provides guidance and support to LE team members in day-to-day operations, activities, and events.
- Promotes and facilitates interactive problem solving with staff.
- Outlines expectations and holds staff accountable to meet the goals of the programming.
- Provides timely feedback and performance evaluation in a fair and consistent manner.
- Works closely with VP of Member Services & Life Engagement & LE Coordinators to inform, exchange ideas, coordinate services and discuss format for small group, large group, and individual activities by meeting on a regular basis for calendars, projects, and other activity organizational tasks.
- Assists with recruiting, training, evaluating, and retaining qualified and competent LE coordinator staff.
- Coordinates the orientation of new LE staff.
- Identifies educational needs and promotes the professional growth of all LE staff through educational programs aligning with operational goals.
- Evaluates program periodically, modifying and expanding as approved by the VP of Member & Life Engagement.
- Assists Vice President of Member Services & Life Engagement with special projects in Life Enrichment Department.
- Provides input in the development and implementation of the operating and capital budgets.
- During the absence of the Vice President of Member Services & Life Engagement, will answer questions that arise, respond to emails, guide the other members of the department, and complete specific tasks assigned.

25% Administrative
Uniguest management
Assist the receptionists and Association staff with room reservations
Administrative gardening support of resident gardening spaces
Assists in reserving the bus
Write articles for the resident, staff and volunteer newsletters as requested
Attends required in-services and approved continuing education programs.
Prepares reports and statistical data as necessary.
Hours: Monday - Friday fulltime 40 hours a week
Education:
- Minimum of two years related supervisory experience required; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Activity, Recreation Therapy, or COTA background preferred.
- Experience in CBRF (Community Based Residential Facility) and RCAC (Residential Care Apartment Complex) settings preferred
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- 5 years working in a retirement community serving older adults preferred
- 2 year’s experience working in Memory Care or with individuals with dementia in some capacity preferred
- Computer skills – Microsoft Office, ability to or willingness to learn Room Scheduling Software and Resident Calendar management software
- Excellent interpersonal skills

- Ability to organize and perform tasks efficiently, and in an environment where there may be interruptions or need to pivot
- Active Listener and ability to affirm people’s feelings and emotions
- Ability to delegate assignments to the appropriate individuals based on their skills, roles, and interest.
- Proven demonstration of good judgement, strong problem solving, and decision making skills.
- Has a valid driver’s license, insurance card and good driving record to be able to drive AAP bus on monthly outings and as needed.
Licenses & Certifications: CBRF Certification preferred, Valid Driver’s License
