Road Maintenance Worker

The Audrain County Road and Bridge Department has an immediate opening for a full-time Road Maintenance Worker.

Position Overview:

Perform routine duties related to the maintenance of the county’s gravel roads and facilities.

Education and Experience:

· High School Diploma or GED

· Class A CDL w/air brakes

· Preferred: one-year equipment operations or construction experience

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

· Maintain, clean and perform routine maintenance on vehicles, equipment, buildings, and grounds

· Maintain county roads including setting up signs and other traffic control devices

· Load and unload spreading and hauling materials and supplies; cutting and clearing brush; removing trash and debris from roadsides; cleaning and clearing ditches

· Operate equipment such as: dump truck, backhoe, loaders, graders, chain saws and hand tools

· May repair and clean bridge decks (full/partial), drains, and clean bridge

· May perform roadside duties, including mowing and spraying; planting grass seed and removal of trees

· Operate vehicles to transport employees, equipment, machinery and/or materials, plow snow and mow right of way using tractor mower and hand tools

· Other duties as assigned.

Physical Demands/Work Environment:

· Ability to move about facility on regular basis to perform physical activities, such as, but not limited to, lifting heavy equipment (up to 100 lbs.), bending, standing, climbing or walking.

· Ability work outdoors; exposure to adverse or otherwise undesirable characteristics in the environment.
