Role: Data Engineer, Public Sector, Federal – We are seeking a creative, hands-on, hardworking engineer to be a member of our data and technology group. As a Sr. Data Engineer working on a wide range of data engineering projects, you will drive the full and correct adoption of modern data engineering & Delivery practices (“Real” Agile, TDD, Microservices, Containerization, CICD, Cloud, etc.).
The Data and Technology Group supports division vertical teams to deliver technology solutions supporting Defense, Homeland, and FedCiv clients by delivering analytics services and developing applications and algorithms through Lean Development and Agile Methodologies.
The DTG provides the homebase for full-stack developers, data engineers, data scientists, and other technologists, creating a dynamic, cross-project technical community that prioritizes continual learning, collaboration, and easy opportunities for project variety over time.
The DTG also ensures that our focus on delivering for current customers is balanced with initiatives that will help drive future growth - both in terms of new customers and new technologies and solutions. We create demonstrations and pilot capabilities to help clients as they consider how to modernize and maximize their processes, operations, and mission impact.
BA degree with 7 years’ experience or MS and 5 years in application development/full life cycle on Data Warehouse engagements
At least 3 years’ experience in large (80TB ) and complex data warehousing architecture, design and implementation/migration
3-5 years of experience in PL-SQL development using Oracle preferably in Exadata environment
Proficiency in SQL programming and query development using SQL Developer or TOAD
Strong understanding of relational data models supporting transactional systems (OLTP) and dimensional data models
Knowledge of query optimization and usage of Explain Plan
Expert knowledge of aggregating data using Oracle’s OLAP functions
Solid Data Modeling skills using Erwin or other comparable tool
Must be able to multitask efficiently and progressively and work comfortably in an ever-changing data environment.
Must work well in a team environment as well as independently.
Excellent verbal/written communication and problem solving skills; ability to communicate information to a variety of groups at different technical skill levels.
