Job Summary:
Aviation Blade Services is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Entry-Level Composites Technician to join our team. In this role, you will work under the guidance of experienced technicians to assist in the repair, maintenance, and manufacturing of composite aircraft components, with a focus on blades. You will gain hands-on experience and training in composite materials, processes, and quality control standards in the aviation industry.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in the repair, inspection, and maintenance of composite materials used in aviation components, particularly aircraft blades.
- Prepare composite materials for manufacturing, including cutting, laying up, and trimming materials such as fiberglass, carbon fiber, and resin.
- Support experienced technicians in the use of various tools and machinery, including vacuum bagging, autoclaving, and curing ovens.
- Perform basic sanding, bonding, and finishing of composite parts to meet engineering specifications.
- Follow all safety and environmental protocols while handling hazardous materials and operating equipment.
- Assist in the inspection and testing of completed parts for quality assurance, ensuring all repairs and manufacturing processes meet industry standards.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment.
- Document and record work performed accurately for traceability and compliance purposes.
- Participate in ongoing training to enhance skills and knowledge of composites materials, repair processes, and aviation standards.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical training or certification in composites or a related field is a plus.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to follow technical instructions and safety procedures.
- Good hand-eye coordination and dexterity for working with precision tools.
- Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
- Willingness to learn and develop new skills in the composites and aviation fields.
- Basic knowledge of mechanical or electrical systems is an advantage, but not required.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for extended periods.
Preferred Skills:
- Familiarity with composite materials (e.g., fiberglass, carbon fiber, resin systems).
- Experience or coursework in aviation, manufacturing, or materials science.
- Basic computer skills to input work records and access technical manuals.
