What are the responsibilities and job description for the Long Term Sub Evaluation Team Leader position at Ayer Shirley Regional School District?
Reporting to the Director of Special Education, the Evaluation Team Leader’s role is to assist teachers and administration, subject to Special Education Laws, with the educational needs of students placed in substantially separate classrooms/programs within the district.

- Coordinate and facilitate all aspects of M.G.L. 71B 603 CMR 28.00 (Special Education Regulations).
- Assist in the administration of the Special Education procedures that have been designated throughout the school
- Chair individual Team Meetings
- Compile and coordinate assessments for the purpose of determining the best combination of regular and special education services for each school-age student identified as eligible for special education
- Receive referrals and initiate the evaluation process
- Supervise and coordinate evaluation teams in evaluating and diagnosing children, determining eligibility for special education, and then designing appropriate educational programming
- Coordinate the transition of students on Individual Education Plans (IEPs)
- Oversee the development of IEPs, timelines, and all special education paperwork
- Review Individualized Educational Programs for compliance and accuracy
- Ensure timely communication with staff and parents. Involve parents in the evaluation and formation of educational planning
- Monitor the progress of special education students as noted on progress reports, report cards, and standardized testing
- Advise the Director of Special Education regarding inclusion and specialized programs. Communicate effectively with all administration about programs, staff, and students
- Promote and safeguard the confidentiality of student records according to the student record regulations. Assist in the data collection for state-mandated special education reports
- Act as the District contact for outside agencies that serve the child/parent/guardian
- Any other relative duties as assigned
