Direct Care Professional

Job Overview
As a Direct Support Professional, you will play a crucial role in enhancing the quality of life for individuals with disabilities or special needs. This position requires compassion, patience, and a commitment to providing care and support in various settings, including residential homes and group home facilities. You will assist clients with daily living activities, ensuring their comfort and safety while promoting independence.

Responsibilities

• Provide personal care assistance to clients, including bathing, grooming, and dressing.
• Assist with meal preparation and ensure proper nutrition for clients.
• Support clients in daily activities such as cleaning and maintaining their living environment.
• Observe and report any changes in clients’ physical or emotional conditions to the appropriate personnel.
• Help clients with mobility, including heavy lifting when necessary to ensure their safety.
• Maintain confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA regulations regarding client information.
• Foster a supportive and encouraging environment that promotes client independence and well-being.
• Collaborate with healthcare professionals and family members to develop personalized care plans.

Skills

• Strong ability to provide compassionate care and support to individuals with diverse needs.
• Experience or training in patient observation techniques is highly valued.
• Knowledge of meal preparation practices that cater to specific dietary requirements.
• Familiarity with HIPAA regulations and maintaining client confidentiality.
• Previous experience in a nursing home or similar setting is preferred but not required.
• Ability to perform heavy lifting safely while assisting clients as needed.
• Excellent communication skills to effectively interact with clients, families, and team members.
• A clean background check is essential for all group home staff ensuring the safety of all clients served.

Pay: $14.58 - $20.00 per hour

Expected hours: 35 per week
