The Director of Community Resilience fosters stronger communities by focusing on Community Development and Impact, Partnerships Cultivation and Development, and Disaster Recovery Preparedness and Recovery. This role involves enhancing community well-being, building key partnerships, ensuring effective disaster preparedness and recovery, and representing the Agency in the community. Additionally, the Director supports the Vice President of Community Impact and Vitality in elevating the Agency's Community Development work, presence, and impact. Overall, the Director drives impactful initiatives and activities while ensuring the community can thrive and grow stronger.
Success Metrics :
Partnership Quality : Increase the number of partnerships and improve partnership engagement annually.
Strategy Implementation : Successfully develop and execute at least three new community development and disaster recovery strategies annually.
Community Impact : Manage community resilience and recovery metrics and outcomes.
Policy Influence : Contribute to the development new policies annually that benefit community resilience and development.
Capacity Building : Increase the capacity of staff and partners to manage community development activities and disasters through training and development programs. Establish a Community Development Train the Trainer Series.
Representation and Advocacy : Participate in community events and meetings annually to enhance the Agency's visibility and influence.
Key Responsibilities :
Community Development :
Strategy Formulation : Develop and implement strategies that enhance community development.
Community Engagement : Actively engage with community members and organizations to understand their needs and incorporate their input into community development and resilience planning.
Policy Development : Advocate for and contribute to the development of policies that enhance community development, resilience, and disaster preparedness and recovery.
Resource Management : Streamline the use of human, financial, and operational resources to support community development and resilience efforts.
Monitoring and Evaluation : Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of community development initiatives, using data to inform continuous improvement.
Agency Representation : Represent the Agency at community meetings, panels, and conferences. Co-leading the Agency convening work with the Vice President of Community Impact and Vitality and the Director of Stakeholder Relations and Program Advocacy.
Partnerships Cultivation and Development :
Partnership Cultivation : Develop and nurture strong relationships with local, regional, and national partners, including government agencies (e.g., FEMA), community organizations, and industry stakeholders. Identify partnership universal tracking system and processes to measure ROI and integration across the Agency.
Event Coordination : Plan and coordinate events, meetings, and forums to engage stakeholders and promote the Agency’s community development and resilience initiatives.
Training and Capacity Building : Provide training and support to staff and community partners to build capacity for disaster resilience and recovery.
Collaboration : Work closely with partners to align efforts and maximize the impact of community development initiatives.
Disaster Recovery Preparedness and Recovery :
Disaster Recovery Strategy : Lead the development and implementation of comprehensive disaster recovery strategies that align with the Agency’s mission and community resilience goals.
Planning and Delivery : Oversee the planning and execution of disaster recovery initiatives, ensuring timely and effective delivery of services and support to the community.
Grant Management : Identify and work with the public grant and engagement team to secure funding opportunities to support disaster recovery and community development efforts.
Data Analysis : Utilize data to inform disaster recovery strategies and measure the impact of initiatives.
Innovation : Drive innovation in disaster recovery planning and implementation to enhance community resilience and support sustainable development.
