What are the responsibilities and job description for the Direct Support Professional (DSP) position at Barnhart Family?
Immediate Need for a Direct Support Professional (DSP). The right candidate will be responsible for providing guidance for a young adult male with intellectual disabilities and seizure disorder (epilepsy). Must be either a Certified DSP, RN, LPN, or have a Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Psychology, Education, Special Education, Counseling, Social Work or Gerontology for the top pay rate.
All candidates must have the capacity to conduct themselves as a good role model. The DSP will work with the client in the home on daily living skills, physical activities, communication, and maintaining/improving present abilities. Accompanying the client on outings in the community to assist in age-appropriate social activities, volunteering, dining out, and church activities is a priority.
The position is approximately 15-35 hours per week. The immediate need is for Tuesdays and Fridays 8 am to 5 pm. There is potential for additional hours as needed in the future. Depending on activities and the needs of the client and DSP, flexibility in the schedule is possible and will be discussed in advance.
