What are the responsibilities and job description for the Ski Club Support position at Barrington Park District?
POSITION SUMMARY:
The position of the Ski Club Support Staff is a part-time, seasonal position. Ski Club Support Staff is under the direction of the Recreation Supervisor and is responsible for assisting on Friday evening BMS and BHS Ski Club trips. Ski trips begin on Friday January 10 - Friday February 7, 2025 4:00pm - 11:00pm and Friday February 14 6:30am - 7:30pm.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Shall ensure program activities are conducted safely and conducted according to safety guidelines
- Prevent accidents through enforcement of policies, rules, regulations and ordinances governing the conduct of children during trips
- Demonstrate a mature and professional attitude through dependability, punctuality and genuine awareness.
- Maintain good relations with all School District PTO members and participants parents
- Sensitive to the individual needs of the participants
- Takes direction from the Ski Club Coordinator
- Keep an open line of communication with the Supervisors on the progress of the program and any obstacles that might arise
- Maintain organization on all trips and ensure that the program is of high quality, efficiency and safety is addressed at all times
- Deliver quality customer service at all times. Remembering to keep information confidential. Establish and maintain positive relations and communication with parents.
- Accident, incident reports must be turned in the day the accident occurred. Any major accidents must be reported to the Recreation Supervisor immediately
- Comfortable and confident to drive Park District vehicles (both vans and trucks) out of state with children on board
- Able to transport injured children via Park District vehicle to local hospitals and immediate care facilities.
- Attend all required staff trainings and meeting with Recreation Supervisor as well as other staff
SAFETY AND RISK MANAGEMENT:
- Uphold safety and risk management strategies in support of and compliance with Park District policies, procedures, ordinances and practices
- Familiarity with and effective implementation of the Employee Safety Manual, Emergency Response Plan, and Crisis Management Plan
- Attend professional educational and safety trainings
- Assist with emergency procedures and building evaluation
- Utilize Personal Protective Equipment when performing duties, based on job tasks
- Correct unsafe conditions and/or report them to supervisor
- Promptly report hazardous conditions, accidents and injuries to supervisor
- Complete incident/accident report forms and promptly forwards them to supervisor
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
- Must be 21 years of age or older with a valid Illinois Drivers License
- High School Diploma, college degree preferred
- Must be able to work a variety of scheduled hours including nights and weekends
- Must possess current First Aid, CPR and AED Certification
- Experience Skiing or Snowboarding
- Must have an Illinois Drivers license with a clean driving record and be able to drive the Park District Jeep or van if needed.

- Frequently required to stand; walk; sit and use hands to finger, handle, or feel
- Occasionally required to reach with hands and arms; climb or balance and stoop, kneel, bend, crouch, or crawl
- Occasionally lift and/or move up to 30 pounds; and over 30 pounds with assistance
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision and depth perception
- Must be able to ski or snowboard on all levels of the mountain
