As a Laboratory Technician in our Whitestone, SC surfactants plant, you will make an impact on the world with a fundamental focus on sustainability. As a Laboratory Technician, you will be a part of a team which manufactures surfactants for the personal care and cleaning industries. Materials produced at this site have gone into many products used in the fight against COVID-19, including soaps and disinfectants. 

Starting in May, 2025, you…

Will begin a BASF specific academic program at USC-Upstate while working and learning on site in our White Stone, SC surfactants site from some of the best in the business. During your time here we don’t want you to sweat the small stuff so BASF will cover the entire cost of    your educational program, including books!

When you’re not studying you will have opportunities to…

Work hands-on in our White Stone, SC surfactants plant you will learn to:

• Test raw materials, in-process samples, and final samples.
• Perform routine calculations and decisions for making process adjustments as required.
• To accurately record in databases like SAP and communicate the test results.
• Responsible for standardizations of all reagents used in the laboratory.
• Perform internal standard testing for maintenance & failure prevention of laboratory equipment and reagents.
• Be responsible for reporting unsafe laboratory equipment, behaviors, and conditions.
• Maintain supply of solvents and safe disposal of wastes. Communicate need to order reagents and supplies.
• Unpack and store reagents and supplies when received.
• Communicate with internal and external customers.
• Obtain and store retains.
• Dispose of in-process, raw material, and old retains as needed.
• Clean glassware and general housekeeping of the lab.
• Trouble shoot product being manufactured in the plant as needed.
• File raw material and product batch sheets.

If you...

• Have a HS Diploma or GED
• Are willing to work in a chemical plant environment and can lift 50lbs
• Have ability to stand extended amounts of time
• Are able to work 12hr shifts (day OR night/weekends and holidays) 
• Are willing to enroll in a academic program to launch a career in Manufacturing
• Have experience with computers (e.g. spreadsheets, databases, MS Office)
• Can work in a team environment and be in attendance for all assigned shifts
