Transportation Construction Inspector

Bassett Engineering, Inc. is currently seeking qualified Transportation Inspectors (TCI) for our ongoing and future bridge projects located in various locations through north central Pennsylvania. This work includes PennDOT and local projects.

Job Functions:
- Conduct inspections, observe, and document construction activities to ensure compliance with project plans, specifications, and standards.
- Utilize technical references appropriately for the inspection of structural, concrete, earthwork, building, and mechanical components.
- Take field measurements and perform calculations.
- Verify that appropriate materials and construction processes are being used.
- Ensure that construction conforms to the project plans, specifications, and special provisions.
- Uses various computer software programs to document observations and create inspection reports.
- Continuously monitors work of contractors to ensure timely completion of project.
- Interacts with clients, contractors, sub-contractors, government agency representatives, and other parties on a regular basis.
- Communicates information, responds to inquiries, and helps resolve field issues to ensure successful completion of projects.
- Responsible for obtaining and maintaining required certifications.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Required:
- GED or high school diploma required.
- Minimum of two years of PennDOT, Pennsylvania Turnpike, or related transportation construction experience
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
- Valid driver’s license.
Desired:
- Licensure/Certification: NECEPT bituminous and concrete, ACI, NICET Level 2 or higher in Highway Construction.
- Experience with PennDOT, PA Turnpike, or related organizations preferred.
- Previous construction inspection experience preferred.
- OSHA 10 or 30 certification
- TCI 2 or 3, or TCIS
Salary Range:
- Wages are based off PennDOT’s consultant construction inspection wage rates.
Job Types: Full-time, Temporary
Schedule:
- 8 hour shift
- Monday to Friday
