Your Role at Batesville:
As a Lead Driver you will be responsible for the day-to-day operations and continual improvement of a local customer service center (CSC), including direct lead responsibility of drivers and other CSC associates.

What You'll Do:
- Safely operate Commercial Motor Vehicles ranging from straight truck to van.
- Deliver and unload new funeral caskets in a safe manner.
- Develop and nurture customer relationships.
- Effectively meet CSC and customer demands.
- Responsible for local operational performance in the following areas: DOT regulations, health and safety, vehicle inspection and maintenance, work standards, procedures and policies, and customer satisfaction
- Assist in the achievement and reduction of cost per delivered unit and hours per unit measures.
- Protection of company assets such as inventory, purchase and fuel cards, petty cash, etc.
- Support high standards of customer service in the areas of order taking and customer problem solving.
- Adherence to governmental regulations (DOT, OSHA)
- Assist in training of health and safety, phone skills, standard operating procedures, etc.
- Execution of product recalls and field quality repairs
- Interaction and coordination with associates, sales, customers, RDC Managers, District CSC Managers, and home office
- Participate in cross-functional projects to improve company performance.
- Provide input regarding market needs as they relate to distribution and service.
- Lead employees. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the Company policies, the Code of Ethical Business Conduct, and applicable laws.
- Responsibilities include assisting with interviewing, training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
- Other duties may be assigned.
What You'll Bring:
- 3 years of commercial truck driving experience
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
- Valid driver's license
- Clean drivers abstract and ability to operate a straight truck safely.
- Must pass a vehicle road test.
- The employee must pass DOT physicals, including vision requirements and random drug and alcohol screenings.
- Basic computer skills
- Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, percentages.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
- Ability to define problems, problem solve, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
Nice to Haves:
- Ability to effectively use computers and associated applications (experience in JD Edwards)
- Greater than 5 years' experience in a Logistics Supervisorial Position preferred.
- Class B CDL
- Strong customer service orientation
- Diligent attention to safety
- Dependable, positive attitude, honest, quick learner, good communication skills and team player
