We are seeking a highly motivated, detail-oriented person to support the Investment Grade Trading desk. The trading desk is a very active, market-making, client-facing business that uses a variety of systems and platforms to transact with clients globally. The role requires the ability to learn new technologies, make fast-paced decisions while maintaining a consistent professional demeanor. The role will also require working closely with the operations and middle office teams to resolve any discrepancies or trade corrections. This person will report directly to the Global Markets Trading Head and work closely with the GM Sales and Trading team, as well as research, operations and DCM personnel.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in distributing new secondary axes/communicating desk needs with sales.
- Assist in the calculation of PnL and daily reports of trading activity and risk.
- Monitor risk parameters and help to build better connections between disparate sources of information on bonds being traded.
- The OCO will also be responsible for updating the prioritization status, determined by Sales, of each submission in the BBVA systems and database.
Qualifications:
Education:
- Bachelor's Degree in a related field
- A focus in finance, economics or other market-related topic
Experience:
- Knowledge of financial systems
- Interest in current events
- 0-2 years of relevant experience or coursework
Skills:
- Basic understanding of financial markets and market practices.
- Ability to interact with sales and trading personnel and other internal stakeholders globally
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team on the trading floor
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational and time management abilities
- Responsive to communications and self-motivated to problem solve
- Ability to manage focus while under time pressure
- Use a broad range of tools and techniques to generate new ideas and solve problems. Interpret data to inform insights and recommendations.
- Excellent analytical capabilities and conceptual thinking with aptitude in decision-making and problem-solving.

With respect to this position in our New York Office, the expected base salary is $75,000.00. It is not typical for offers to be made at or near the top of the range. Salary offers are based on a wide range of factors including relevant skills, training, experience, education, and, where applicable, certifications obtained. Market and organizational factors are also considered. In addition to salary and a generous employee benefits package, successful candidates are eligible to receive a discretionary bonus.
