DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES:
Hiring rate - $29,940
For 50% of day, this position will coordinate and supervise the daily activities at the Congregate Nutrition Site for older adults and operate the site in accordance with the Area Agency on Aging. The employee supervises volunteers in the preparation and serving of meals, maintains clerical records, check inventories of food and supplies, coordinates volunteer participation, plans and coordinates recreation activities, and preforms related work as required. The employee assists the Home Delivered Meals coordinator as needed.
For the remaining 50% of the day, this position will ensure the cleanliness and maintenance of the Beaufort County Department of Social Services building. This position is responsible for the housekeeping and maintenance of the entire agency with the assistance of another full-time housekeeper. This includes general housekeeping of the building and well as the upkeep of the surrounding grounds. Responsibilities are performed by daily, weekly and monthly schedules. Also responsible for miscellaneous duties as needed such as the moving, assembly and repair of office furniture, changing of light bulbs, cleaning of restrooms, maintain a log of moderate to extensive repair requests from employees and ensure that these tasks are completed with county buildings and grounds staff, etc.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
The duties of this position are broad and include contact with staff members, clients, vendors, and other professionals. General knowledge of effective housekeeping practices and ability to practice effective communication techniques both orally and in writing; ability to work with others, ability to handle a variety of work duties, ability to read, interpret and apply written instructions. Ability to relate to clients served by our agency. General knowledge of minor maintenance. Skill in organizing workflow and coordinating activities.
Knowledge of commercial cleaning techniques and practices; safety precautions related to cleaning equipment and supplies used including ability to read cleaning product labels, mix and work with cleaning solutions in proper proportions.
Ability to perform duties which may involve standing, bending and kneeling for periods of time; climbing stairs. Ability to follow instructions; operate commercial cleaning equipment; Heavy physical effort required– This position exerts in excess 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or in excess to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or in excess to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
MINIMUM TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:
Minimum Training and Experience
Education and/or experience in housekeeping work that is directly related to the job and consistent with accepted practices of the trade.
Education and/or experience in nutritional or food service work that is directly related to the job and consistent with accepted practices of the trade.
SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION:
Supplemental Information
Hours of Work: 8:00-5:00 Monday – Friday with the possibility of having to amend work schedule when required.
Pre-employment Drug Screening and Criminal Background check will be required as a condition of employment. Valid NC Driver's License Required.
All employees are called upon to serve shelter duty in times of emergency and/or natural disaster.
