Behavior Technician Job Description Summary

Position Overview: The Behavior Technician is a non-teaching, non-professional role under the direction of the Supervisor at New Horizon School.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of three years' experience working with children with complex needs and behavioral issues.
  • Specialized training and certification in emotional disabilities and/or behavior management methods.
  • Valid Act 34, 114, and 151 background clearances.
  • Knowledge of behavioral management principles, practices, trends, and treatment methods.
  • Ability to collaborate with teachers of varying expertise levels.

Responsibilities and Essential Functions:

  • Assist in identifying needs and developing programs for students with complex behaviors and Positive Behavior Support Plans (PBSP).
  • Support classroom teachers in implementing and evaluating interventions.
  • Maintain effective working relationships with staff, parents, and other professionals.
  • Communicate clearly both verbally and in writing.
  • Assist in behavioral support services for New Horizon School.
  • Provide pre-referral assistance for students with challenging behaviors.
  • Maintain pupil records and data as requested.
  • Collaborate with the Supervisor to establish work schedules.
  • Attend professional development opportunities as authorized.
  • Participate in BVIU in-service programs and activities.
  • Receive supervision and evaluation according to state standards and BVIU procedures.
  • Participate in the school crisis prevention intervention team, including student escort and restraint practices.
  • Perform any other duties as assigned.

Terms of Employment:

  • 200 workdays per year with salary and benefits as approved by the Beaver Valley Intermediate Unit Board of School Directors.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From $24,000.00 per year

Schedule:

  • 8 hour shift
