About the Role
Under the direction of the Analytical Manager, the Senior Analytical Chemist leads analytical research projects, focusing on the evaluation of diverse materials such as consumer goods, raw ingredients, flavors, fragrances, and botanicals. This role involves method development, instrumentation expertise, and collaborative teamwork to enhance our industry-leading capabilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Drive analytical research for flavor, fragrance, and QC projects, including setting objectives, preparing samples, operating instruments, analyzing data, and delivering insights to internal and external stakeholders.
- Develop and optimize analytical methods, enhancing our proprietary database of internal standards.
- Operate, maintain, and repair chromatographic instrumentation, including GC-FID, GC-MS, and HPLC.
- Collaborate with external organizations to explore new analytical techniques and obtain advanced insights.
- Manage laboratory supplies, ensuring a clean, safe, and organized workspace.
- Train team members on instrumentation operation and software, serving as a resource for troubleshooting.
- Participate in organoleptic evaluations and collaborate with cross-functional teams, including R&D, QC, Sales, and Sensory departments.
- Maintain detailed records in both paper and electronic formats.
What We’re Looking For
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in chemistry or a related field (Master’s preferred).
- Experience: 7–10 years in an analytical lab, with flavor or fragrance experience strongly preferred.
Skills:
- Expertise in chromatographic techniques (e.g., GC-FID, GC-MS, HPLC) and sampling methods such as SPME and thermal desorption.
- Proficiency in troubleshooting and maintaining laboratory equipment.
- Advanced data analysis and reporting capabilities.
- Familiarity with Empower, ChemStation, MassHunter, AMDIS, and NIST.
- Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Attributes: Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and adept at problem-solving in collaborative environments.
