Key Responsibilities:
- Meal Preparation and Service:
- Assist in preparing and serving meals according to planned menus and resident dietary needs.
- Ensure proper portioning and presentation of meals.
- Follow special dietary instructions for residents with specific needs (e.g., texture modifications, diabetic-friendly options).
- Inventory and Supply Management:
- Monitor food supplies, place orders, and maintain inventory in collaboration with the Dietary Manager.
- Rotate stock to reduce waste and ensure the use of fresh ingredients.
- Sanitation and Safety:
- Ensure that kitchen, storage, and dining areas meet sanitation and safety standards.
- Follow infection control protocols and ensure proper handling of food and equipment.
- Assist in maintaining logs for refrigerator/freezer temperatures and food storage compliance.
- Staff Support and Training:
- Help train dietary aides or other kitchen staff on proper food handling and safety procedures.
- Support dietary staff with meal service, cleaning, and preparation tasks as needed.
- Resident Interaction and Satisfaction:
- Communicate with residents regarding their dietary preferences and feedback on meals.
- Address resident concerns or special requests related to food service.
- Administrative Duties:
- Assist with dietary documentation and records, including meal counts and dietary assessments.
- Help maintain records for compliance with health regulations and facility policies.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent, with additional coursework in nutrition or food service preferred.
- Experience: Prior experience in food service, preferably in a healthcare setting.
- Certifications: Food Handler’s Certification or ServSafe certification as required by local regulations.
- Interpersonal Skills: Good communication and organizational skills, with the ability to work as part of a team.
