Elementary Art Teacher
DEFINITION:
Under the general direction of the Principal (position may serve multiple school sites), the Elementary Art Teacher serves as the primary classroom instructor for students in the elementary setting. The Elementary Teacher works collaboratively with classroom teachers and uses a variety of current research-based teaching strategies designed to meet the needs of all students and may plan and coordinate the work of aides, teacher assistants, and other paraprofessionals. The Elementary Teacher participates in on-going staff development to ensure delivery of the most effective research-based instruction. The Elementary Teacher accepts responsibility for the learning of all students assigned to them utilizing a variety of assessments to monitor student progress and inform instructional decisions.
TYPICAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
? Engage and support students in standards-based art instruction in alignment with California Arts
Standards
- Create and maintain effective environments for student learning
- Use a variety of appropriate teaching strategies
? Support and consistently enforce school and district policies
- Plan and design instruction and learning experience for all students using a variety of teaching
strategies
- Assess student learning and provide instruction that meets their academic needs
? Continue developing as a professional educator through self-selected and district provided staff
development
- Provide proper supervision of students during the assigned workday
- Plan and prescribe purposeful assignments for paraprofessionals, tutors and/or volunteers as needed
- Communicate with parents/guardians regarding student’s individual progress
- Promote positive interpersonal relationships among peers, staff, students and parents/guardians
- Actively participate as a team member in the special education process, when student’s needs
indicate such support
- Plan and implement a program Bachelor's Degree
