Job Summary
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Direct Support Professional to provide essential support and care to individuals with varying needs, including those with autism and other developmental disabilities. The ideal candidate will be responsible for assisting clients in their daily activities, promoting independence, and ensuring a safe and supportive environment. This role requires a commitment to enhancing the quality of life for those we serve while adhering to all relevant regulations and standards.
Duties
- Assist clients with daily living activities such as personal hygiene, meal preparation, and medication management.
- Support individuals in social interactions and community engagement, fostering independence and self-advocacy.
- Implement individualized care plans tailored to each client's unique needs and preferences.
- Maintain accurate documentation of client progress, incidents, and any changes in behavior or health status.
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations to protect client confidentiality and privacy.
- Provide first aid and CPR as needed in emergency situations.
- Work collaboratively with families, healthcare providers, and other professionals involved in the client's care.
- Participate in ongoing training and professional development to enhance skills related to home health, senior care, and patient care.
Experience
- Previous experience in home health, senior care, or a similar field is preferred but not required.
- Familiarity with working with individuals on the autism spectrum is a plus.
- Certification in First Aid and CPR is highly desirable.
- Ability to lift clients safely as needed while maintaining proper body mechanics.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to build rapport with clients from diverse backgrounds.
- A genuine passion for providing compassionate care and support to individuals in need.
