JOB TITLE: Warehouse/Casual Driver
SUPERVISED BY: Warehouse Superintendent/Warehouse Supervisor
Position Summary
Performs a variety of warehousing duties, which requires an understanding of the Company's storage plan. Work involves verifying materials, noting and reporting discrepancies, and damages, rerouting material to prescribed storage locations by proper methods to protect material and employee safety; rearranging and taking inventory of materials, examine stored materials and report damages and deterioration, removing material from storage and preparing it of shipment. Operates equipment to station or process material for shipment. Occasionally, drives a tractor-trailer to transport material, merchandise, equipment, or workers between branches and to customers or other locations as necessary. May also load and unload truck without helpers, make minor mechanical repairs, and keep truck in good working order.
Duties And Responsibilities
Accurately locate and identify stock for storage and retrieval.
Safely operate related machinery and equipment.
Properly identify and process paperwork necessary for material handling.
Correctly load and unload trucks and verify load with delivery tickets.
Properly tag, band, and package material for shipment.
Maintain a clean and safe work area.
Complete pre-trip inspections prior to driving each day.
Check orders on truck and plan the shortest and fastest route based on how the truck is loaded.
Check the weight distribution on each side for legal loads.
Make sure the load is chained and secured, tarped and properly flagged.
Be aware of road, traffic, and weather conditions and adjust your driving accordingly.
Keep the truck clean and in proper working condition at all times and report any service concerns immediately.
Complete post-trip inspection at the close of each day.
Always be helpful and courteous to all customers and employees.
Perform other duties as related or assigned for the benefit of the Company.
Education And Experience
High School Diploma or GED.
Valid Class A CDL, with prior driving experience.
Mechanical background.
DOT Physical Exam Card.
Four points or less on MVR.
Knowledge, Skills And Abilities
Ability to work as a team member without close supervision to meet Company and personal goals.
Good reading math, and writing skills, as measured by a pre-employment math test with capability of reading a tape measure, calipers, and road maps.
Ability to meet physical demands of job which are required 95% of the work day (i.e. driving, lifting, pushing, pulling, standing, sitting and climbing).
