Description
Position Summary:
Bennett Day School is seeking dynamic and innovative coaches for the upcoming school year. In this pivotal role, coaches will guide student-athletes and the team in mastering the fundamentals, rules, physical conditioning, and game strategies essential to excel in their chosen sport.
Coaches are also responsible for cultivating strong character, sportsmanship, and teamwork among the student-athletes and team. By working closely with student-athletes, coaches will not only foster a deep appreciation for the sport but also shape positive habits and attitudes that extend beyond athletics, encouraging lifelong personal growth and achievement.
Practice and game times vary by the sport and grade level; regular season practice times are Monday-Friday between 3:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m. with games potentially going until 8:00 p.m. Additionally, some Saturdays and Sundays are required depending on the sport. The season runs from 11/18/24 through 2/14/25, depending on the sport.
Requirements
Job Qualifications:
- Ability to communicate with middle school-aged student-athletes as well as parents and athletic department administration
- Coaching experience at the middle school level is strongly preferred
- Comprehensive knowledge of the sport is required with competitive playing experience preferred
- Experience/familiarity with the IESA/IHSA rules and a commitment to youth sports preferred
- Ability to demonstrate excellent leadership, written and communication skills with student-athletes, assistant coaches, parents and the athletics department administration
- CPR/AED Certification strongly preferred
- ISBE or ASEP/NFHS certification preferred
- Ability to pass a background check
