High School Guidance Counselor
- This position is for a 1 semester contract for Spring 2025 only.
Position Purpose
Utilize leadership, advocacy and collaboration to promote student success, provide preventive services and respond to identified student needs by implementing a comprehensive school counseling program that addresses academic, career, personal and social emotional development for all students.
Essential Functions
Provides services to students through individual guidance and small groups to assist them with academic, personal, social emotional and career needs.Consults with teachers, staff and parents regarding meeting the needs of students.Develops a total program of counseling through continued planning and cooperative work with stakeholders, develops goals and continues to evaluate and revise the counseling program based upon data of needs.Disseminates school and community resource information to students and families and networks with the district social work team and outside agencies to provide for the needs of students.Consults with teachers to facilitate the infusion of counseling activities into the regular education curriculum.Counsels / guides students and parents by using and interpreting assessment results.Attends or facilitates informational, parental involvement and / or course registration meetings during the school day or in evening as necessary.Assists in the administration and facilitation of student assessments and evaluations.Completes required documentation per the Arkansas Department of Education.Attends 504, Special Education, Response to Intervention (RTI) and other meetings as appropriate.Is available to students and parents for education-related purposes during the instructional day and extended hours when necessary.Plans and coordinates work for volunteers and parents as guided by building administrator.Assists in the orientation of new students and families to the school.Maintains student records as applicable and protects their confidentiality.Attends and participates in faculty meetings and professional development activities.Supports and participates in extra-curricular activities, such as PTO, sporting and cultural events, etc.Takes all necessary and reasonable precautions to maintain a safe and orderly environment to protect students, equipment, materials and facilities.Communicates regularly with various internal and external stakeholders to develop and maintain a positive school / community relationship.Perform school assigned duties.Additional Duties
Performs other related tasks as assigned by the Principal and other central office administrators as designated by the Superintendent.

Certification / License
Valid Teaching License and Counseling Endorsement for Grade Level AssignedMeets requirements for Arkansas Qualified Teacher DesignationEducationMasters Degree in Counseling
Language Skills
Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures or governmental regulations.Ability to write reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals.Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of student, administrators, staff and the general public.Mathematical Skills
