What are the responsibilities and job description for the Payment Processor position at Best Financial Credit Union?
SUMMARY
The first duty of the position is to serve the members. The position provides miscellaneous support to the membership and other departments within the Credit Union. The position is responsible for a wide range of duties, including but not limited to processing: member/collections payments, accounts payable, expense reports, garnishments, bankruptcy payments & processing, ATM deposits, mobile deposits, wires, and batch processing (ACH, drafts, bill pay, and other payment processes). They are also responsible for printing instant issue cards, verifying automatic payments, processing payment reminders, and running or downloading daily reports as part of these processes. The chosen candidate will process, review and balance to some extent various forms of payments as well as assist members with payment issues. The payments department (which includes the accounting, collections and card service departments works as a team. The position requires performing functions as a back-up to the Accounting, Card Service and Collections Specialists.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS, DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Assist members with questions and provide solutions or opportunities
2. Actively participate in the communication and development of member accounts and loans
3. Back-Up Member Service Representatives on the phone, text, email, and other forms of communication
4. Process, review and balance the following types of transactions: a. ACH/Drafts/Bill Pay batch posting b. Online/ATM/Mobile payments c. Garnishments d. Bankruptcy notices and payments e. Accounts Payable f. Wires g. Payment reminders 5. Assist and Back-Up the functions of Accounting, Card Service and Collections Specialists 6. Update and/or develop procedures for activities performed
7. Other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and/or ability required.
Education Requirements
12th grade education or higher; or equivalent of 1-year accounting experience.
Mathematical Skills
Basic mathematical skills to assist with the processing of daily transactions.
Necessary Skills and Abilities
This person must be able to work as a highly motivated team player.
- 1 year of accounting experience or banking industry experience preferred.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Good problem-solving skills, good analytical skills, able to make sound decisions.
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office and Outlook preferred; basic knowledge required.
- Strong attention to detail and excellent organizational skills. Work with minimal supervision.
- Ability to cross-sell credit union products/services.
- Ability to prioritize and manage multifunctional tasks.
