Position Overview
This position is responsible for handling and processing materials for truss, floor, and panel systems in a bilingual (Spanish/English) production environment.
Essential Job Duties
- In-feed lumber into the saw and provide clear, project-specific direction for sawing activities on various saws, including routine setups and standard projects.
- Adjust saws for angle and length to ensure parts are produced according to cutting lists or batch specifications, maintaining accuracy.
- Plan and assign work tasks to meet daily, weekly, and project-specific production goals.
- Develop proficiency in operating different types of saws, improving versatility and productivity in component production.
- Perform minor adjustments to saws as needed.
- Stack cut lumber after processing.
- Adhere to OSHA safety standards and company procedures to ensure a safe work environment.
- Conduct daily equipment inspections and promptly report any issues to leadership or maintenance personnel.
- Possess a strong understanding of shop drawings and/or computerized production software.
- Other duties as assigned.
Experience:
At least 1 year of prior experience in a shop environment, particularly in component assembly.
Skills:
- Proficient in operating equipment such as automated saws, CNC machines, staplers, nail guns, routers, and various types of saws, including the fully automatic MiTek saw.
- Ability to accurately read a tape measure and use basic hand tools like hammers.
- Bilingual in English and Spanish with strong communication skills.
- A collaborative team player committed to producing high-quality products.
Physical Demands:
- Ability to work in a physically demanding environment, including lifting up to 50 lbs regularly and up to 100 lbs occasionally.
- Exposure to extreme temperatures, dust, and noise when operating woodworking machinery.
- Required personal protective equipment includes ear protection, eye protection, and closed-toe shoes.
- Must be available for overtime as needed.
