TITLE: Maintenance Technician

REPORTS TO: Associate Managing Director

WORK LOCATION: Ability to work on-site (Beverly Arts Center).

SALARY: Starts at $19.00/hour to commensurate with experience.

Job Description:

Position Overview:The Beverly Arts Center is seeking a skilled Maintenance Technician to support the upkeep and functionality of its theater, facilities, and equipment. This position plays a critical role in ensuring a safe, clean, and welcoming environment for patrons, staff, and performers. Responsibilities include routine inspections, basic repairs, and working with contractors for specialized tasks. Specific duties may involve repairing theater seating, upholstery, and structures, as well as maintaining tools and equipment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct routine inspections of the theater, equipment, and facilities to identify and address maintenance needs.
  • Perform preventative maintenance to ensure the longevity and reliability of theater systems and structures.
  • Handle basic repairs, including mechanical fixes, minor upholstery work, and furniture repairs (e.g., theater seating).
  • Oversee and coordinate with contractors for professional repairs or specialized maintenance tasks.
  • Diagnose minor mechanical or technical issues and implement corrective solutions.
  • Maintain and organize tools, supplies, and maintenance equipment, ensuring functionality and availability.
  • Use common tools such as hammers, saws, drills, and precision instruments to perform repair tasks.
  • Reference repair manuals, technical documents, or catalogs as needed to address issues or order supplies.
  • Ensure compliance with safety standards and building regulations at all times.

Qualifications:

  • Proven maintenance experience (minimum of 5 years).
  • High school diploma required; technical certification or degree preferred.
  • Proficiency in the use of hand and power tools, precision measuring instruments, and electronic testing devices.
  • Ability to disassemble and repair machinery, equipment, or other devices to replace defective parts.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to work independently.
  • Attention to detail and a professional attitude.
  • Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform tasks requiring manual dexterity.
  • Reliable transportation and flexibility to respond to maintenance needs on occasion.
  • Background check required prior to employment.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience in maintaining or repairing theater-specific equipment (e.g., stage rigging, lighting systems, or seating).
  • Knowledge of building systems such as HVAC, plumbing, or electrical.
  • Strong problem-solving and follow-up skills.
