What are the responsibilities and job description for the RESIDENTIAL COUNSELOR position at Bi-Bett Corporation?
Bi-Bett Corporation, a California non-profit engaged for the past 50 years in the treatment and recovery of adults with primary substance use and co-occurring disorders alcohol or other drug problems. Originally based in Contra Costa County, Bi-Bett now operates residential and outpatient programs in Alameda and Solano Counties, as well as Recovery Residences. We have sites in Vallejo, Pittsburg, Walnut Creek, Brentwood, and Hayward.
The Bi-Bett Mission: To provide effective and affordable human services to individuals, families and communities with alcohol and drug related problems in the belief that everyone has value and can grow through change if given ones rightful opportunity to choose. Our goal is to create culturally appropriate alcohol and drug-free environments in which one may experience personal and social growth.
Duties
- Attend mandatory staff meetings.
- Teach weekly, evening, and/or Saturday classes and facilitate groups.
- Facilitate private individual face to face meetings with students.
- Maintain monthly or daily student progress notes.
- Other duties as required.
Qualifications
- Experience working in alcohol and/or drug recovery programs.
- Certified Addiction Counselor
- Ability to conduct alcohol and/or drug educational classes for up to 35 students.
- A thorough knowledge of alcohol/drugs, related problems and recovery process.
- Sensitivity to cultural, disabled, gay and lesbian, transgender, bi-sexual issues.
- Understanding of recovery terminology.
- Good written and verbal skills.
- Medical clearance.
This is a non-exempt position. Part-time and Full-time positions available.
Salary/Wage commensurate with experience, education, certification or license.
