Big Ass Fans is Hiring a Controller Near Lexington, KY

Want to be part of the Big Ass Family? The Controller role will report to the VP of Finance of Big Ass Fans and be responsible for all things accounting-related. This position is responsible for the month-end close/consolidation process, generating timely and accurate financial reports, researching accounting issues, and ensuring compliance with US GAAP.Responsibilities
  • Plan, manage, and execute the various functions of the accounting department to work toward the overall goal of providing, accurate and timely financial information in accordance with US GAAP and Company policy
  • Oversee the month-end close/consolidation process, including the recording of journal entries, performing account reconciliations, and calculating various balance sheet reserves
  • Manage overall working capital requirements, including processes relating to AR, AP, and cash forecasting
  • Maintain the ERP financial reporting system in order to meet the needs of management and other reporting requirements
  • Initiate research to identify a business or operational issues that affect the company's accounts and effectiveness, as well as recommend ways of improving existing systems and processes
  • Act as a business partner to segment General Managers to assist in financial analysis and managing KPIs
  • Prepare monthly analyses on changes in accounts and communicate findings and recommendations to management
  • Participate in annual Audits, prepare audit schedules, resolve audit issues identified by external auditors; provide support to internal parties and external auditors during year-end audits
  • Lead in developing an environment that creates “best practices” processes and systems and challenges current practices in an effort to locate efficiencies
  • Mentor and lead team members through towards best-in-class performance
  • Performs and assumes other duties and responsibilities as may be required
Requirements
  • 5 years of general accounting experience required; experience in Inventory, Fixed Assets, AR, AP, GL
  • CPA preferred
  • Previous supervisory experience preferred including successful experience with staff development and with meeting personal and team financial goals
  • Strong month-end close processing experience while demonstrating continuous improvements is required
  • Experience coordinating with other departments to accomplish closing schedules effectively and efficiently required
  • ERP systems experience is required (Epicor is a plus)
  • Advanced Microsoft Office skills are required including strong working knowledge of Excel
  • Manufacturing industry experience is a plus
  • Demonstrates the capacity to manage changing priorities and ambiguity while remaining calm and controlled in a highly fluid environment
  • Excellent communication skills required
  • Must be able to pass a background and credit check
