VICE PRESIDENT OF PHILANTHROPY
JOB SUMMARY: Reporting to the Chief External Relations Officer, The Vice President of Philanthropy will oversee special events, corporate giving and individual giving to build strong and enduring relationships that result in approximately $3 million of revenue for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Metro Atlanta. An ideal candidate will have extensive experience working with donors and overseeing development operations. They will take a strategic and long-term approach to cultivating relationships, creating proposals and stewarding donors. A track record of working collaboratively with program teams to ensure effective delivery of services is also a key requirement. An ideal candidate will have:

- Experience supervising a team, including managing prospect assignment and planning.
- Experience creating or growing a major gifts program.
- Track record of successfully soliciting large ($100k ) sponsorships, grants and gifts.
- Experience with special events and corporate partnership.
- Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced environment, meet concurrent deadlines, show strong attention to detail and organize time and priorities.
- The ability to think strategically and creatively about new approaches to philanthropy and partnerships.
- A spirit of collaboration that fosters positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders
- Ability to analyze data to strengthen fundraising efforts.
- Knowledge of the Atlanta community.
- Knowledge of solicitation, cultivation and stewardship strategies and techniques
- Strong writing skills and excellent presentation and public speaking skills

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
Maintain an active portfolio of high-level prospects built through research, networking and expansion of current agency relationships.
- Meet and exceed annual revenue goals (approximately $3 million).
- Oversee a team of 9; direct reports include the Director of Corporate and Community Relations, Senior Special Events Director, Director of Individual Giving and Development Operations Coordinator.
- Oversee participation in events where BBBSMA is the beneficiary, maximizing and seeking opportunities.
- Manage assignment of prospects and coordinate strategy for donors.
- Create a comprehensive plan for donor communications, including acknowledgement and stewardship.
- Make presentations and meet with donors on behalf of the agency.
- Strengthen development operations and oversee work with finance to ensure revenue is tracked correctly.
- Oversee volunteer recruitment through corporate and community outreach.
- Utilize Salesforce to track activities and campaigns related to revenue and volunteer recruitment goals.
- Manage multiple projects and complete them with minimal supervision.
- Other duties and responsibilities may be assigned as necessary
QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s Degree required. Degree in Nonprofit Management, English, Journalism, Public Affairs, Communications, Public Administration or a related field preferred. Master’s degree or CFRE preferred.
Minimum 10 years of experience in nonprofit philanthropy/development, with a strong track record of success in generating revenue. Prior history of establishing and stewarding donor relationships are key.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications especially Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint, and CRM (Salesforce preferred). Use of Asana or project management software preferred.
Strong initiative and desire to advance development skills and career
OTHER INFORMATION:
- May be required to occasionally work nights and weekends as needed
- Local and overnight travel may be required
- Hybrid work schedule
