Big C Lumber in South Bend, IN is seeking a Yard and Warehouse person. This is a full time, day shift position with benefits. This person will provide assistance to customers and drivers, and receive and prepare material for shipment.
Yard Personnel essential functions include:
- #1 priority is to ensure customer satisfaction while never compromising safety
- Assist with ensuring yard is kept clean always
- Unload vehicles and check for material accuracy
- Place material in proper yard location
- Use all required safety equipment
- Assist other employees as needed
- Load trucks for delivery
- Put returns away
- Check vehicles for any problems; including daily forklift inspections
- Proper arrangement of material on trucks
- Proper storage of inventory
- Communicate clearly, accurately, and effectively with employees, management, customers, and suppliers
- Perform any special assignment/projects as required by the Operations Manager
- Asset preservation
- Adherence to all safety and fire regulations and anti-theft procedures
- Promote a positive image of BIG C
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
- Basic math skills
- Ability to become Forklift Certified
- Ability to lift, carry, and move 80# to specified areas, in rough terrain, up/down steps
- Ability to withstand exposure to harsh weather conditions
- Attention to detail
- Ability to coordinate as well as work in a team
- Ability to adapt to in-house software
