Job description
BIOS Clinical Research is seeking a highly motivated, energetic, licensed phlebotomist to join our fun and energetic team. BIOS Clinical Research specializes in clinical trials across various areas of HIV treatment and HIV prevention such as PrEP.
Job Objective:
The position is responsible for phlebotomy, specimen processing/handling/transport, and maintaining all laboratory related duties.
What are Clinical Trials?
Clinical trials investigate the safety and effectiveness of new medications. These trials are made possible by patients who volunteer to take part. At our facility we specialize in the investigation of medications related to HIV and other infectious diseases. We have helped patients gain access to important new medicines and contributed to the FDA approval of groundbreaking new treatments.

Qualifications:
Education
- Required: High school diploma, GED or higher-level degree
Licensure/Certification
- Required: California Certified Phlebotomy Technician (CPT)
Experience
- Preferred: Previous CPT experience
Additional qualifications
- Comfortable working with the LGBTQIA community
- Comfortable working with HIV patients or persons at risk for HIV
- Contribute to providing a welcoming and safe space for all patients
Job Responsibilities
o Properly identify patient using two identifiers
o Collect specimens via venipuncture or fingerstick per clinical trial protocol
o Perform data entry of patient and lab processing information in an accurate and timely manner
o Centrifuge and prepare specimens for transport; create/receive packing lists as needed
o Scan, print and file lab requisitions and reports
o Perform daily/weekly/monthly logs per protocol
o Address lab queries with resolution and appropriate documentation
o Maintain laboratory kits and laboratory supplies
o Consult with professional Clinical Research Coordinator and Investigator staff regarding problems
o Adhere to HIPAA standards when using, disclosing or requesting protected health information
o Utilize time productively: maintain cleanliness (including disinfecting work area), reorders and restocks supplies and assists co-workers with task
o Complete protocol competencies in a timely manner; maintains compliance with all clinical trial laboratory manual and training modules
o Perform other duties as assigned
Pay
Salary range:
- $21.00 – $26.00/hourly. Depending on skills and experience
Schedule
- Monday to Friday (7:30 am – 4:00 pm)
